Jean-Bernard LEVY

Jean-Bernard Lévy préside le Directoire de Vivendi depuis 2005. Vivendi est au cœur des univers des contenus, des plateformes et des réseaux interactifs. A ce titre, Jean-Bernard Lévy préside les conseils de surveillance d’Activision Blizzard, Canal+ France et GVT (Brésil), ainsi que celui de l’Institut Telecom. Il est également Vice-président du conseil de surveillance de Maroc Telecom (Maroc) et du Groupe Canal+, et siège aux conseils d’administration d’Universal Music, SFR, Vinci, de l’Institut Pasteur et de la Société Générale.

Ingénieur de formation, Jean-Bernard Lévy a débuté sa carrière chez France Telecom avant de devenir conseiller technique et consultant auprès de Gérard Longuet, Secrétaire d’Etat chargé des Postes et Télécommunications en France. Après un passage chez Matra Marconi Espace en tant que Directeur Général chargé des satellites de communication, il retrouve Gérard Longuet comme chef du personnel de son ministère et est nommé Président Directeur Général de Matra Communication en 1995. Il devient Directeur général puis Associé gérant en charge des affaires financières de Oddo et Cie, une société de gestion de titres et d’actifs, en 1998, avant de rejoindre Vivendi en 2002.

Jean-Bernard Lévy est un ancien élève de l’Ecole Polytechnique et de Telecom-ParisTech (France).

Since 2005 Jean-Bernard Lévy has been chairman of the Management Board of Vivendi. Vivendi is at the heart of the different worlds of content, platforms and interactive networks. In this capacity Jean-Bernard Lévy chairs the supervisory boards of Activision Blizzard, Canal+ France and GVT (Brazil), as well as of the Institut Telecom. He is also Vice Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Maroc Telecom (Marocco) and Groupe Canal+, and is a Board member of Universal Music, SFR, Vinci, the Pasteur Institute, and Société Générale.

An engineer by training, Jean-Bernard Lévy began his career at France Telecom before becoming a technical advisor and consultant at France’s Ministry for Postal and Telecommunications Services under then Secretary of State Gérard Longuet. After a period as General Manager in charge of communication satellites at Matra Marconi Space, he returned to the French civil service as Longuet’s Chief of Staff, and was appointed Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Matra Communication in 1995. He became first Chief Executive Officer, then Managing Partner for Corporate Finance at Oddo & Cie, a securities and asset management firm, in 1998, before moving to Vivendi in 2002.

Jean-Bernard Lévy is an alumnus of France’s Ecole Polytechnique and Telecom-ParisTech.
